Cumin-Spiced Orzo

Cumin-infused Orzo

  1. Boil a pot of water (5 L for a whole package of 450g of orzo).
  2. Add the entire package to the pot.
  3. Cook the orzo until it is tender but not mushy. About 7 minutes. Test at 5.
  4. Drain the orzo and return it to the pot.
  5. Stir in 1-2- ish tbsps of olive oil.
  6. Mix in 2 tsp of whole cumin seeds (gives a nice little crunch, don't use ground cumin).
  7. Add salt and pepper, to taste.
  8. C'est Tout!
  9. Serve alone for a simple small meal/ snack, or stir together with your favourite seasoned and cooked meat. Great with chicken, salmon or shrimp.
  10. You could alternatively crumble and mix in a light cheese, such as ricotta, feta or even small bits of cheese curds.

I could blabber on but I won't. My goal here is to give you basic ideas to inspire your own flavour creations. Short and simple so that you can take these and do with them what you want. Replicate it yourself, or create something similar. I am not a photographer, meticulous with details, nor a connoisseur of cooking. So I am going to continue to give you very basic recipes, that don't follow any rules. That's it. ENJOY!
